Bladewell vs Flux

Flux is the Livewire team's component library: a free set of components and a paid Pro tier, installed as a package and built for Livewire. Bladewell is free, plain Blade with vanilla JavaScript, and copies its components into your app.

Side by side

Flux's column is taken from its own docs, repository and Packagist page as they read on 7 October 2026, each linked as its source. Something out of date? Tell us.

Topic Bladewell Flux
Price and licence Free, MIT licensed. Every component, no paid tier. A free tier plus Flux Pro, a one-time payment: $149 for one project, $299 for unlimited projects, $799 for a team. Proprietary licence. Source: Price and licence, Flux
How you install it php artisan bladewell:add copies each component's Blade, JavaScript and CSS into your app. You edit them like your own code; bladewell:add --installed updates the files you haven't changed and lists the ones you have. The package can stay a dev dependency. A Composer package your app runs. flux:publish copies a component's Blade files into your app, and published files no longer get Flux's updates. Without Livewire Yes: plain Blade. The same components work inside Livewire 3 and 4 components too. No. Livewire is a Composer requirement, and setup adds @livewireScripts and @fluxScripts. Source: Without Livewire, Flux
JavaScript it brings One small vanilla JS module per component, bundled by your own Vite build. No Alpine, no Livewire, nothing from a CDN. Livewire, with the Alpine it bundles, and Flux's own scripts. Source: JavaScript it brings, Flux
CSS Tailwind CSS 4.1 or later, with a theme file of colour tokens. Tailwind CSS 4.2 or later, plus Flux's own stylesheet. Source: CSS, Flux

Date range picker Yes, free. In Flux Pro: the date picker with mode="range". Source: Date range picker, Flux
Data table Yes: sorting, filters with option counts, row selection and pagination, run by your controller or Livewire component, with the URL kept in step. A free table component, with sorting and pagination wired through Livewire. Source: Data table, Flux
File upload Yes, including direct upload with progress and retry. In Flux Pro. Source: File upload, Flux
Under a strict CSP No inline scripts, onclick or style attributes, and no eval: nothing needs 'unsafe-inline' or 'unsafe-eval', and there's no nonce to set up. Not documented for Flux. Livewire itself needs 'unsafe-eval' unless you turn on its CSP-safe mode, which limits the expressions you can write. Source: Under a strict CSP, Flux
Accessibility Keyboard support and ARIA in every component. Every example is checked with axe, light and dark, closed and open, on every change. Says each component is designed and tested for keyboards and screen readers. Source: Accessibility, Flux
Latest release 1.0.0, 9 October 2026. 42 components so far. v2.20.1, 29 September 2026. Source: Latest release, Flux

Which to pick

Flux, if

  • Your app is built with Livewire anyway, and you want the official kit from the Livewire team.
  • You need charts, a rich text editor or a calendar built in. Bladewell has none of these; its guide adds charts and an editor with Chart.js and Tiptap instead.
  • You'd rather get updates with composer update than own the files.
  • You're on Laravel 10 or 11.

Bladewell, if

  • You want a date range picker, file upload and searchable select without a paid licence.
  • Some of your pages aren't Livewire components, or you'd rather not use Livewire at all.
  • You want to change any component freely and still get updates for the files you haven't touched.
  • Your Content Security Policy has no 'unsafe-eval'.
